Thrive as a Highly Sensitive Person

90 minute weekly sessions for 6 weeks

Are you easily overwhelmed by such things as bright lights, strong smells, loud noises or everything at once? Do you get rattled when you have a lot to do in a short amount of time?Do you feel other people's emotions strongly? Have you always been 'sensitive'? In 1991 Dr. Elaine Aron coined the term “Highly Sensitive People” after a trait was uncovered in the human brain and nervous system, largely called Sensory Processing Sensitivity. While 15-20% of the human population (as well as 100s of animals) have this trait, meaning it is beneficial to the population at large, little is understood about it and people who have it often find it a burden. The trait leads to differences in process information from surroundings, internally and has great implications of people’s identity and relationships. In our modern world being highly sensitive does not always feel like a gift, and yet you are one of the special 15-20% that have this trait. Join these sessions to learn more about how your nervous system works, as well as practices and methods to clear and protect your energy, balance your system and thrive as an empath.

Week 1: What is a Highly Sensitive Person and a review of the Research
Week 2: Know your Energy
Week 3: Clear & Protect your Energy
Week 4: Embrace Your Sensitivity
Week 5: Thrive
Week 6: Sum Up

The Inflamed Brain: How Reducing Inflammation can reduce symptoms

60 minute weekly sessions for 6 weeks

Facilitator: Zara Dureno, BA Psych (MOT Occupational Therapist)

As someone with chronic illness, you may feel confused trying to understand what is happening in your body or feel invalidated by being told it is “all in your head.” In this course, I will lay out f exactly what is happening in the brain and body and help build your toolkit with ways to manage symptoms.

Emerging research highlights neuroinflammation as a key factor in the debilitating symptoms seen in both ME/CFS and Long COVID. Neuroinflammation refers to immune responses within the brain and central nervous system, often triggered by infection, injury, or chronic stress on the immune system. In conditions like ME/CFS and Long COVID, the brain’s inflammatory response can lead to lasting symptoms, including severe fatigue, cognitive impairment (often described as “brain fog”), unrefreshing sleep, and widespread pain. These symptoms are thought to result from an overactive or persistent immune response that disrupts normal signalling in the brain and nerves, affecting energy regulation, memory, and even mood.

After this 6-week course, you will have practical skills that will improve your brain and body’s function by reducing inflammation.

Meditation + Energy Balancing
Show Up and Receive

60 minute weekly sessions for 5 weeks

Facilitator: Denise Askin
www.deniseelysa.com
Instagram: @deniseelysa
Facebook: @deenergybalancing

Join us for a new group offering designed for you to simply show up and receive.

Each week Denise will hold the space for you to intentionally land back in your bodies and hearts and invite your nervous systems to begin to gently return to a space of safety. Recognizing that we live in a society that so often asks us to ignore the whispers of our bodies and the calls of our souls, it is practically an act of rebellion to take intentional time for ourselves. Learning to reconnect with our true selves and creating the safety and space for our bodies to speak to us while expanding our capacity to listen to what they need is an important step on our path to healing.

We will begin each session with a shorter meditation to land in the space, in our bodies and in our hearts and connect with the powerful energy of the sacred circle we create by intentionally gathering in community. Following this, Denise will offer a combination of guided meditation and energy balancing. She will work with the energy field of the group throughout each session, supporting your bodies in accessing their own ability to heal. Energy healing or balancing therapies can support deep relaxation, pain relief, sleep, the healing process, clearing energetic blockages and stored trauma, becoming more attuned to your own inner guidance, and more.

The 5th class will be for integration with the possibility of more time for questions.

This group is designed to be gentle and appropriate for all levels of experience.

About Denise:

I did not become passionate about this work by accident. Meditation, spiritual and energy healing practices have given me tools, recovery, and resiliency beyond what I thought possible. The foundation of my work stems from my certifications in Therapeutic Touch® Level 1, Therapeutic Touch® Level 2, Applications of the Inner Processes of Therapeutic Touch® (previously Level 3), Past Life Regression Practitioner Certification, and multiple smaller intuitive development courses. I am acknowledged by the Therapeutic Touch International Association as meeting all criteria for each of their courses and am an insured member in good standing with the BC Therapeutic Touch Network Society. I adhere to and maintain the standard of ethics required by each of my certifications.

I am passionate about supporting others in the energy work and embodiment practices that have done so much for me, along with recognizing and unlearning the several societal and self-limiting beliefs that contributed to us getting sick in the first place. Gently inviting our nervous systems into a space of safety while building resiliency and expanding our capacities for staying present with what is, is all a part of learning how to live well, while unwell.

I am deeply honored to be able to offer this work to serve others. To be trusted by my clients and guests to hold the space and to use my intuitive gifts and many lifetimes of experience, education and practice, to work with them in both group and 1:1 settings, is something that my heart holds with the utmost care and integrity.

Prerequisite

We recommend completing the Core Group or having done body work before participating in this group.

This course dives into the self-discovery work that can be incredibly powerful and vital for many people’s mind-body healing journeys. We will start with learning how to move from survival states to create safety in the body through somatic exercises and evaluate our body’s readiness for deep work. We will then start to get deep by looking at personality traits typical of those who get chronic illness and where these characteristics originate. Through a lens of self love, we will then dive into identifying and working with our Parts. We will also explore how to identify our true beliefs and core values, and look at where resistance to living our truth comes from and why. To put this all together, we will learn how to use an emotional processing tool scientifically proven to decrease symptoms. This course is for those ready to get deep!
